In total, there were 54 power outages in the region according to the Hydro-Quebec websitearound 8 a.m., i.e. 16,125 customers affected.

The sectors most affected are Charlesbourg, Shannon, Stoneham and Lac-Beauport, although there are several other outages to the west and north.

In most cases, it is reported that equipment failure, damage caused by vegetation or a planned outage by Public Security would be the cause.

It must be said that strong winds accompanied by rain swept the region during the night. Gusts of 82 km/h were recorded at 5 a.m. at Jean-Lesage airport.

A rain warning is also in progress, according to Environment Canada. From 30 to 50 millimeters of sometimes heavy rain are expected on the territory during the day.

“Torrential rains can cause flash flooding and water accumulation on roads. Flooding is possible in places in the lowlands,” warns the government organization.

As for power outages, Hydro-Quebec indicates that most of them should be settled in the morning.
