More than 160 tourism workers receive certification of competencies in Encarnación

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Within the framework of a public-private partnership, 168 workers from the Tourism Sector of the City of Encarnación received certificates in the Professional Profile of ‘Table Service (Waiter)’ from the Hospitality Family, during an event held at the Awa Resort Hotel, in the capital of the department of Itapúa.

This initiative is part of the National Model for Certification of Competencies of Paraguay, led by the Interministerial Technical Unit of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security and the Ministry of Education and Science and the National System of Vocational Training and Capacity Building.

The activities were coordinated with the Visitors Bureau of Itapúa, the National Secretariat of Tourism and the Yacyretá Binational Entity.

The process of assessing work competencies is a significant step to officially validate the skills acquired by workers throughout their professional careers, whether through empirical experience or training.

The ‘Certification of Competencies’ is a valuable resource to raise the profile of the Paraguayan workforce and highlight the unique skills of people in various sectors of the country.

To obtain certification, workers participated in an initial interview and during the practical phase, they received recognition, validation and accreditation of their work skills at no cost.

The evaluation centers were Itapúa – Paraguay Convention & Visitor Bureau, with observation laboratories in Novo Rodeio Churrasquería, Savoy Hotel, Awa Resort Hotel and Carnaval Hotel Casino.

The event was attended by the Vice Minister of Employment and Social Security, Verónica López; Alfredo Mongelós, Technical Secretary of Sinafocal and general coordinator of Uti for the Ministry of Labor; Zulma Morales, general coordinator of Utipor for the Ministry of Education and Patricia Ávila, general coordinator of the Regionals for the National Secretariat of Tourism. In addition, Pablo Leiro, president of Itapúa – Paraguay Convention & Visiting Boreau and José Surián, general manager of the Awa Resort Hotel, among other businessmen in the sector.
