More than 15,000 euros raised in two days to save a Liège restaurant from bankruptcy

Heart on hand, she had not hesitated to prepare some 187,000 meals with the help of 4,000 volunteers that she had distributed to flood victims in 2021, an initiative that had lasted for weeks. Today, since the admission of bankruptcy of her restaurant announced in a long message published on the social network Facebook, chef Charlotte Depierreux can count on the help of the victims she has helped, but also on anonymous people to try to save her “baby”, “Côté Cour Côté jardin”, located boulevard de la Constitution, in the Outremeuse district, in Liège. A well-known brand which won the prestigious Boulet de cristal 2021 prize for the quality of its Liège balls served with fries or tagliatelle and homemade mayonnaise, but which, in the current situation, had to lay off 14 people. A multitude of factors are invoked by the restaurateur: Covid-19, increased energy costs, wages, bad financial partners, among others.

The incredible momentum of solidarity to save the best Liège balls

“Thanks to all of you, the hope of recovering our baby becomes possible,” wrote the chef on the social network Facebook. “Since the announcement of the restaurant’s bankruptcy, a surge of generosity has been set up”, in particular with the help of several associations. “We are overwhelmed with expressions of affection and some of you have even spontaneously made a financial donation.”

Thanks to you, the prospect of recovering our restaurant is real!

“After trying to manage all this emotion, my team created a crowdfunding campaign in order to centralize this generosity through a legal structure”, the chef further indicated. “If you want to help us take over the restaurant with a new management team, it’s via the link https://www.crowdin.be/…/projet…/cote-cour-cote-jardin.”

It is clear that the call for generosity has been heard. In less than two days, more than 15,000 euros have already been collected. And it’s not over. “You are absolutely incredibly generous. You can’t imagine how moved all of us, the team, are by all this solidarity!”

”Thanks to you, the prospect of recovering our restaurant is real!”
