Muscat: The fact that Kovid’s deaths have not been reported in the past week is even more comforting. This is the first time in a row that so many days have passed without any deaths since the Kovid cases began to surge following a while. The last reported case of Kovid infection in the country was on March 10.
So far this month, only six people have died from the epidemic. Last month, 94 people lost their lives. February 6 was the deadliest day. Fourteen people lost their lives in the epidemic that day. Kovid took away 30 people in January. But only three people died in December and two in November. The Ministry of Health had earlier reported that 90 per cent of deaths due to Kovid were due to non-vaccination.
Kovid has infected 1173 people in the last one week. 2949 people were cured. The highest number of confirmed cases was on March 13. On the day following the week-long holiday, 457 people were infected. However, 1653 people were cured.
Those in the health sector are optimistic that the recovery rate and mortality will be controlled. The number of hospital admissions has also been reduced.
In early February, up to 100 patients were admitted to the hospital every day. Despite adequate preparations, hospital stays and an increase in the number of people admitted to the intensive care unit have left health workers worried. By mid-March, however, fewer than 25 people were admitted to the hospital daily. The Kovid Review Supreme Committee has said that the mask will not be mandatory in open spaces from March 1, as Kovid cases are under control.
However, the mask is mandatory for events held in indoor halls and closed rooms. Health officials say the measures taken by the authorities to reduce the prevalence of daily morbidity and mortality have helped reduce the incidence and death of Kovid.
