More rains forecast in August than in July, risk of urban flooding – Pakistan

The Meteorological Department has warned that July rainfall has been less than normal across the country, however, there will be more rain in August than in July, which could lead to flash flooding in cities of Balochistan and Sindh.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz says that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Karachi and Sindh from today, heavy rains are expected in Upper Sindh for three to four days. During this period, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the north-eastern districts of Balochistan.

Sardar Tusarfaraz says that there is a possibility of heavy rain in North-East Balochistan and Sindh Balochistan Karthar mountain range, more heavy rain is also likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, this spell of rain will last till August 6 and 7.

On the other hand, PDMA Punjab says that the water flow in all the rivers and barrages of Punjab is at normal level. There is low level flood in Indus River at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma. There is a possibility of medium to high level flood ridges in the hills in the next 48 hours. The water level in Mangala Dam is 61%, Tarbela is 81%. The water level in Indian dams on Sutlej, Beas and Ravi is up to forty-three percent.
