“Due to demographic developments, we have the fundamental problem that the number of blood donors is decreasing. At the same time, the number of people who need blood donations is increasing. Therefore, the topic of blood donations is more important than ever. It is important that we can also motivate younger people to donate blood “, says Dieter Forsthuber, head of the blood center in Linz.
The large, joint blood donation campaign by the Red Cross, SV Guntamatic Ried and the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten offers a very good opportunity to make an important contribution to functioning health care. This campaign has been one of the largest in Upper Austria for 15 years now. This year, the Oberbank Business Club of SV Ried will be converted into a large blood donation center on Tuesday, January 23rd and Wednesday, January 24th, from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In general, there are an above-average number of blood donors in the Innviertel compared to Upper Austria. “We are very happy regarding the situation in the Innviertel, but unfortunately this is not the case everywhere in our state,” says Forsthuber.
“I hope that this great campaign by the three strong partners will be used by many people once more this year. Blood donations save human lives,” says Ried’s Red Cross district manager Christian Dobler-Strehle.
