The source of the Telegram channel “VČK-OGPU” provided new details about the activities of the driver who caused the collision. Nikolai Kozlov, the former chief traffic safety auditor of the Moscow Metro, was behind the wheel.
After leaving the position of chief auditor, N. Kozlov remained to work in the metro structure, but not as a driver-instructor. He became a technologist. N. Kozlov does not have the right to drive electric locomotives. And the train model “Jauža” could not move independently. According to the documents, the operation of this type of wagons has been discontinued. It could only be driven by being attached to another train.
According to the sources, N. Kozlov, as the chief auditor, always “forgot” about traffic safety and did what he wanted. And the metro management in general, and the Rolling Stock Service in particular, always agreed to this.
“Therefore, as always, out of habit, N. Kozlov turned off the safety devices of the trains himself, without informing anyone about it. As a result, two trains collided,” the Telegram channel quotes the source as saying.
15min reminds that trains Moscow metro collided on Wednesday. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on his Telegram channel at the time that a train sent to the depot ran into a train parked at the station without passengers. The passengers were not seriously injured, the train driver was injured.
“The cause of the train collision at the metro station has been determined – the driver of the train, which was running without passengers, made the wrong decision to manually disable the ARS system (automatic speed control system),” said Viktor Kozlovsky, head of the Moscow Metro.
The train driver confirmed that he had made a serious mistake. The man who operated the train reportedly has more than 20 years of experience.
