The Robbery and Theft Department of the Córdoba Police arrested four suspects of deceiving unsuspecting people, through the Facebook commercial platform, who were then assaulted and robbed in the western area of the provincial capital, official sources indicated.
The raids and procedures were carried out in different neighborhoods of the city of Córdoba for various criminal acts. Investigators were able to establish that the criminals used a false profile on Facebook’s Marketplace platform, where they offered different types of electronic items at a very low cost.
Criminal “hook” in Córdoba
That was the “hook” to attract unsuspecting people with whom the assailants would later arrange a meeting to carry out the false commercial exchange, since it was all a deception to assault them.
When the victims arrived at the meeting point, they were guided to the vicinity of the Las Tablitas and Villa El Libertador settlements, where they seized their money and other valuable items.
Robbery and Theft Personnel acted on 15 incidents and identified the alleged perpetrators of the assaults. At the request of the prosecutor of District 2 Shift 4, Víctor Chiapero, nine raids were ordered in which four men, ages 19, 22, 24 and 33, were arrested.
They were later taken to police headquarters and charged as alleged perpetrators of illicit association. In this way, the new suspects joined the three previously captured, including a minor.
