Airbnb: the number of main residences offered has soared by 60%
Airbnb’s offer in Paris is undergoing a major change: ads corresponding to main residences are multiplying at Grand V speed. In 2022, the number of main residences offered for rent on the platform increased by 60% compared to 2021, Airbnb announced in a press release. We are talking here regarding entire accommodations that Parisians offer when they go on vacation or when they simply go to live with their family, for the duration of the rental.
Other owners offer on Airbnb a room in their accommodation. The supply of rooms has increased by 13% over the past year. At the end of 2022, this form of rental represented 20% of the entire offer in Paris.
Renting on Airbnb, a valuable gain in purchasing power for Parisians
Renting on Airbnb is indeed a valuable financial gain for Parisian owners. A study commissioned by Airbnb from the firm Asterès, which the company reveals at the same time, tells us that in 2022, Airbnb hosts experienced an increase in their purchasing power of 6.6%, thanks to a median income additional 3,086 euros net per year (3,916 euros gross). This represents the equivalent of more than three weeks of disposable income or just over eight months of food expenses.
The study also reveals that hosts between the ages of 50 and 90 benefit the most from renting on Airbnb. Hosts aged 50 to 59 received an average net income of 5,166 euros in 2022, representing a purchasing power gain of 9.9%. As for hosts aged 60 to 90, they experienced a gain in purchasing power of 12.6% (with income of 4,720 euros). For the rental of rooms only, guests aged 60 to 90 received an average net income of 1,097 euros, with a gain in purchasing power of 2.9%.
