Mörbisch celebrated his first “Star Night at Lake Neusiedl”

The “Star Night at Lake Neusiedl” took place for the first time in Mörbisch on Friday evening. Hit stars such as Maite Kelly, Beatrice Egli and Die Seer borrowed the lake stage and backdrop from this year’s Lake Festival musical production, “The King and I”, and played their hits at the royal court in Siam. Barbara Schöneberger and Alfons Haider hosted the evening. For Haider, the two shows on Friday and Saturday are the last of the “Star Night”.

Moderators and musicians presented themselves as highly motivated to entertain a larger audience once more following the dry spell of the past two years due to corona. It’s been too long since you’ve seen one like this – “I want to bathe in people,” Schöneberger fantasizes. There wasn’t a dip in the crowd, but the visitors were still treated to a number of show effects: there were plenty of fire, light shows, dance routines and soap bubbles. Then came the confetti.

The show was opened by Beatrice Egli, closed by Maite Kelly. In between, Giovanni Zarrella, Die Seer, Petra Frey, Sasha, Rubin, Julian Reim and Tanja Lasch, among others, performed old and new hits. Pop and soul singer Lutricia McNeal returned to Austria following a twelve-year absence, and The Rubettes performed with their original line-up for the first time in several years.

The Mayerin convinced at her home game in Burgenland with “Daughters of Eden”. Austro-Islander Thorsteinn Einarsson, for Haider the “hottest voice in Austria”, brought variety to the evening with the pop numbers “Shackles” and “Papercut”. But what was probably the most atmospheric moment was provided by the audience, who made the audience sing and dance to “Marie”. The moderator duo Schöneberger and Haider led the evening in a humorous manner, had zeroed in on the subject of love and always tried to come up with a punchline, even if not everyone succeeded. Between the performances they organized one or the other Burgenland quiz.

Tonight, Saturday, the Star Night will be staged a second time, with live broadcast on ORF 2 from 8:15 p.m. A surprise guest will be Andreas Gabalier, who will be presenting his new song “Bügel dein Dirndl auf”
