AUSTIN (AP) — Chilean Felipe Mora had a goal and an assist and the Portland Timbers ended an eight-game winless streak on the road by beating Austin FC 2-1 on Sunday.

Mora scores for the third time this season in the 39th minute to put the Timbers up 1-0 at halftime.

Mora set up Evander da Silva Ferreira with a goal in the 64th minute as Portland extended its lead. Da Silva Ferreira reached eight goals in the campaign.

Austin came closer after Sebastián Driussi found the goal in the 75th minute to reach nine goals on the year.

Austin has lost four straight at home in all competitions for the first time since joining the league in 2021.

The Timbers have four wins and a draw against Austin, but they had just had three losses and five draws on the road and without being able to score in five of these games.

Portland has scored multiple goals in five straight games under interim coach Miles Joseph.

The Tibers did not have their captain, the Colombian Diego Chará. The club announced Thursday that he will be out for one to three weeks following an appendectomy.

Portland returns home to host the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. Austin travels to face the New York Red Bulls that same day.
