MOPC registers progress on route PY12 in Bajo Chaco and improves rural roads in Ñeembucú

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The development and maintenance of the PY12 route is a flagship project of the Government of Paraguay, promoted through the Ministry of Public Works and Communications and includes four awarded lots. Lot 3, with a length of 44.43 kilometers, shows 14% overall progress as of July.

On the other hand, in Ñeembucú, the MOPC, in agreement with the local Government and the support of the municipalities, is intensifying the Road Improvement Plan in various rural sections of the department.

In the Bajo Chaco, the progress of the works on Lot 3 is generating significant changes in the adjacent communities. For the inhabitants of the areas of Nanawa, Ninfa and General Bruguez, the improvement in the road infrastructure represents much more than kilometers of asphalt, but also new sources of employment and easier and safer access to basic health and education services, which until now have been limited by the conditions of the road.

In Lot 3, approximately 250,000 cubic meters of embankment are being loaded, along with earthmoving, cleaning and conditioning of the existing road. Construction of sewers and gutters in this sector is expected to begin in September.

In addition to boosting economic and social development, the project will boost tourism in the region, generating new sources of income for communities. Improved connectivity is expected to facilitate the transportation of local products to wider markets, positively impacting the quality of life of residents.

Emblematic work

The development and maintenance of the PY12 route is a flagship project of the Government of Paraguay that includes four awarded lots. Lot 1, from km 2.5 to km 37.4, includes the improvement of access to Nanawa (35.02 km) and is under the responsibility of the TEC Consortium.

Lot 2, from km 37.4 to km 80.2 (42.80 km), was awarded to the Avanza Chaco Consortium and Lot 3, 44.43 km, is being executed by the Vial Chaco Consortium.

Likewise, Lot 4, from km 122 to km 160, plus access to the General Bruguez district (43.30 km in total), including a reinforced concrete bridge, is being carried out by the Chaco Sur Consortium.

The project promises to be a catalyst for the comprehensive development of the Bajo Chaco region.

Road improvement plan in Ñeembucú

On the other hand, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, in agreement with the Government of Ñeembucú and the support of the municipalities, intensifies its efforts within the framework of the Road Improvement Plan in various rural sections of the department.

Ñeembucú is characterized by its extensive wetlands. The estuaries, together with the Paraná and Paraguay rivers, as well as numerous smaller watercourses, cover 60% of the department’s surface, which poses a unique challenge for road infrastructure.

Improved roads

Within this framework, machinery and personnel from District No. 12 of the MOPC carried out improvements in the rural sections of Yaguarón – Tacuara’i – Punta Diamante – Piretu Cué towards San Jorge, where profiling, patching and platform lifting work were carried out; as well as in Villalbín to Isla Sola, with platform profiling; the route from Cerrito to Cruce Cerrito, where critical points were restored in coordination with the local municipality and the section Islerías to Isla Umbú.

All these actions, which began on August 12, will continue this week at other priority points, reaffirming the commitment to improve connectivity in an area where water is a constant protagonist.

The MOPC, together with local governments, aims to optimize traffic, adapting to the unique geographical conditions of Ñeembucú, contributing to the sustainable development of the region and its connectivity.
