MOPC prepares package of high-impact works worth USD 500 million

Asunción, IP Agency.- Minister Claudia Centurión reported that the MOPC has executed 34% of its 2024 financial plan, which means that “the works are in full execution” and another package of projects worth UDS 500 million is being prepared for this year.

“From August 15 to April 23, the Government has the greatest execution, the best start in the history of the Ministry of Public Works, more than 540 million dollars have been injected into the economy, which represents 104 percent more than the same period but from the previous Government,” he detailed during his participation in the Council of Ministers held this Monday at the Government Palace.

Likewise, he commented that they have collected 15,000 million more guaraníes in tolls, which he said is due to the incorporation of technology, training and the incorporation of women to toll posts.

In that order, he specified that road projects worth 360 million dollars have been tendered to date, to which is added the expansion of the PY01 route for the sum of 480 million dollars.

“We have 840 million dollars in tenders in the market and preparing for the next few months another 500 million dollars that will come out throughout this year, which prepares our 2025 budget,” he explained.

The minister pointed out that they have 168 contracts that are in full execution worth 1,000 million dollars. She highlighted that without the coordinated work with the Ministry of Economy and Finance these numbers would not be possible.

Likewise, he emphasized the combined actions with all the governorates and municipalities to speed up those projects that impact the most vulnerable areas of the country.

Regarding localities hit by climatic events such as the case of the department of Ñeembucú, he mentioned that all the Ministry’s resources are being activated in the communities to improve the passability of the roads.

“The strength that the MOPC has through its district and through its asphalt plants is key to being able to generate a positive impact for agriculture, education, and health throughout the country,” he added.

At another point in his speech, he announced that they will launch works of great impact for the capital city, Asunción and cities in the metropolitan area.

Another of the MOPC’s priority axes is to contribute to “Paraguay as a Center for Regional Integration”, by promoting the second section of the Bioceanic Corridor. “We promise that you, president, will be the president who inaugurates the bioceanic corridor from end to end,” he added.

The senior state official cited other focuses of her management such as the construction of large-scale hospitals for the interior of the country, improvements in educational institutions and additional infrastructure for the Tacumbú neighborhood.

Finally, he pointed out that they are also focused on the gradual transformation of the transportation system, through the renewal of contracts and infrastructure that allow citizens to access a more efficient service, as well as the diversification of the energy matrix.
