MOPC awards construction of the first section of the “Immigrants Route” in Itapúa

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) awarded the company Benito Roggio e Hijos SA the contract to build the first section of the so-called “Immigrants Route” in the southern department of Itapúa.

This award, the result of National Public Tender ID No. 449,373, is part of the “MOPC Call No. 37/2024 for the asphalt paving work for access to the port of Hohenau”. The investment allocated to this crucial infrastructure amounts to G. 49,501,248,902.

According to the MOPC report, the project includes paving 11.7 kilometers, starting from route PY06, north of the Maternal and Child Polyclinic.

The works will include the construction of the structural package, asphalt leveling, asphalt concrete construction on the roadway and various complementary works, with an execution period stipulated in 18 months.

Driving development in the South

The impact of this project goes beyond the road sector. For the agricultural and dairy sector in Hohenau and its surroundings, the new paved road will solve transportation problems during the rainy season. It will facilitate the transport of more than 350,000 tons of grain collected annually, strengthening the local and regional economy.

The Paredón port, the final point of this section, is distinguished as the oldest in Hohenau and the second in bulk cargo in the department of Itapúa, highlighting its strategic importance for regional trade and logistics.

This initiative represents a decisive commitment by the Paraguayan government to local production and the entire southern region of the country, with a view to promoting tourism and attracting investment.

With this award, the MOPC is embarking on a project that promises to positively transform the lives of the people of Itapu, laying the foundations for sustainable and equitable development in one of the most productive areas of Paraguay.
