Workers at a movie theater in Kenai, Alaska got a nice surprise last Wednesday when a moose walked in to rummage through the trash and came out with a McDonald’s box in its mouth.

A cinema employee filmed the visit of the moose which took place around 7 p.m. He then uploaded the video to TikTok.

On the images, we see the moose entering through the doors of the business, at the same time, the employee shouts “No, no, no! Call the boss!”.

Cinema boss Ricky Black told DNA News that his first reaction was to laugh. According to him, his employee was far from being in danger, since he stood behind the counter.

The moose walked over to the trash can and was rummaging through it with its muzzle.

The employees and the boss tried to attract his attention to make him leave, in vain.

After a few minutes, the moose moved away toward the exit with a McDonald’s box stuck to its muzzle.

A worrying situation

“These types of close encounters with wildlife can be disturbing and dangerous,” wildlife biologist Nick Fowler told DNA News.

Moose tend to be used to the presence of humans and their food, which can be even more dangerous, he notes.

Moreover, human food can harm the health of the animal.

In these situations, “the best thing to do is to make sure that there is a large distance between the human and the animal and you must not approach,” says Fowler.

Cinema employees opened the door while they were washing the popcorn machine.

The smell of popcorn would have attracted the moose to the doors of the business, according to the biologist.
