A moose caused major disruption to subway traffic in the greater Stockholm area and was subsequently shot. The animal strayed onto the tracks on Wednesday and then into the Vårby gård station, as a spokesman for the Stockholm public transport company told the Swedish news agency TT and the radio station SVT, among others.
At the station they initially tried to lure the moose out once more – but because this was not successful, gamekeepers had to shoot the animal. The moose had previously paralyzed large parts of the red line of the Stockholm subway network. Several stations had to be closed. Videos from the newspapers “Aftonbladet” and “Expressen” showed the animal running along the tracks above ground.
