In this regard, the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection published, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, a list of the most prominent foods that play a major role in reducing the risk of depression.

Foods that improve mood and fight depression

The ministry pointed out that carrots are among the foods that are effective in fighting depression, and the reason is because they contain a high percentage of beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A, which is known for its ability to improve mood, according to CNN.

The list included another group of mood-enhancing foods for healthy people in general and depression patients in particular, which are:

Milk: a rich source of vitamin D.

Leafy vegetables: They contain folic acid.

Salmon: It is high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Nutritional tips to improve your mood

In addition, she recommended that you should follow some nutritional guidelines, to ensure an improvement in mood when eating the previous foods, most notably:

Divide the three daily meals into small meals spread throughout the day.

Eat natural sources of complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains, and stay away from simple carbohydrates such as those found in pastries.

Include protein-rich foods in the diet, such as meat, fish, eggs and beans.

Moderation in eating fresh fruits.
