While the summer season is still in full swing, Montreal has already welcomed 100% of visitors who came during the same period in 2019, that is to say before the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a mid-season report from Tourism Montreal.

While American and French tourists are still the majority, the metropolis has seen a 10% increase in the number of visitors from other countries, including tourists from the United Kingdom, Mexico and Brazil, who are 30% more likely to visit Montreal. This year.

Forecasts are optimistic for the rest of the season, since Tourisme Montréal anticipates a 6% increase in the total volume of visitors, especially since the accommodation capacity in hotels has jumped by 5%.

This revival of tourist activity is partly explained by signs of vitality in the hotel industry, which experienced mid-season revenues 26% higher than the results for 2019 and the programming of festivals with effervescent urban entertainment.

“Our central neighborhoods would not be so lively and animated without the influx of these millions of visitors whose satisfaction is a source of pride for all of us,” said the President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal, Yves Lalumière.
