Montreal North: 35-year-old man victim of attempted murder

A 35-year-old man was the victim of an attempted murder following an armed assault on Tuesday morning in Montreal North.

The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) was alerted around 4 a.m. regarding a man who had allegedly been stabbed on Rolland Boulevard, near Pierre Street.

Police officers dispatched to the scene located the victim injured in the upper body, but ultimately, the injuries appeared more likely to be those caused by a firearm.

The 35-year-old, who was conscious, was taken care of by Urgences-santé and transported to hospital to treat his injuries, which are not life-threatening.

According to information obtained from witnesses by the police, a suspect allegedly shot the victim for an unknown reason before fleeing in an equally unknown direction.

The scene was secured for investigators due to arrive later in the day, while a dog handler was brought in to assist in the search for evidence.

A shell casing was found on the ground, according to SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc, who said that investigators were also due to meet with witnesses to this armed attack.
