The suspect, Reynaldo Chery Toussaint, who was not known to Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ party, should be formally charged with fraud and theft, according to a denunciation we consulted.

Our Parliamentary Office has learned that the party filed a complaint immediately following discovering that several checks had been cashed without their recipients, workers and suppliers, having seen the color.

The theft likely occurred during the mailing process. Images captured by surveillance cameras would have helped the police to solve the case.

Listen to the All Know in 24 Minutes segment with Marianne Bessette and Jean-François Baril where they return to the subject via QUB radio :

“We were victims of a theft of envelopes that contained checks worth just over $4,000. The police work has made it possible to identify a suspect, we are waiting for the end of the legal process to shed light on the events, ”confirmed Myriam Fortin, director general of Québec solidaire.

“All the people who were to receive payment were paid quickly, as soon as we became aware of the theft,” she said.

Chery Toussaint is also expected to face, in a separate case dating back to March 2023, a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, indicates another information.
