Montrabe. Training to help carers

On Tuesday March 7, the first of 5 caregiver training sessions organized by the AFC and financed by the ARS in collaboration with the CCAS of Montrabé took place. Information and support course for caregivers of people with a neuro-evolutionary disease. Dr. Gérard explained the characteristics of these neuro-evolutionary diseases, the best known: Alzheimer’s disease, but there are others, which follow a common path: the brain degenerates, the neurons are damaged by producing brain and physical dysfunction. The causes are still unknown but 95% of cases are sporadic and the age of onset of the disease is more or less 65 years. To limit the risks, one must lead a healthy life with social and intellectual activities and have an emotional balance. “There is a Before and an After the disease. A person who has become dependent relies on the support of those around him”, says psychologist Lionel Bayle Denis. “The absence of an entourage means that the person will be placed in an institution.” The family carer has an essential role because “he is on the front line in keeping people cared for at home” We must not forget that family carers save French society 11 billion euros per year (Share study 2017).

For the training it is necessary to register with the AFC: 05 61 84 30 69 or plateform@afc31.fr Helpers: DAC31 platform (accompaniment)
