Monthly fixed charges of 200 to 1000 rupees imposed on electricity consumers, increase in basic tariff by 7.12 rupees – Business & Economy

Another condition of the IMF has been implemented, the federal government has once once more cut electricity to the citizens, the Power Division has issued a notification to increase the basic tariff by Rs 7.12. While monthly fixed charges of 200 to 1000 rupees were imposed on electricity consumers. The fixed charges have been increased by 300 percent on commercial users and up to 355 percent on industrial users.

The request of the federal government to increase the electricity prices was approved by Nepra, following which the notification was also issued.

According to the notification, domestic consumers consuming up to 200 units per month have been exempted from the hike for 3 months. For remaining domestic consumers, the basic electricity tariff has been increased by Rs 7.12 per unit.

According to the Nepra decision, the basic electricity tariff per unit for domestic consumers has gone up to Rs 48 84 paise. The monthly tariff of 201 to 300 units has increased by Rs 7.12 to Rs 34.26.

The tariff of 301 to 400 units increased by Rs 7.02 to Rs 39.15, the tariff of 401 to 500 units increased by Rs 6.12 to Rs 41.36, while the tariff of 501 to 600 units increased by Rs 6.12 to Rs 42.78.

The tariff of 601 to 700 units has increased by Rs 6.12 to Rs 43.92, the tariff of more than 700 units has increased by Rs 6.12 to Rs 48.84.

The price per unit tariff has increased, inclusive of taxes, according to SELAB, but will remain at Rs 3.95 per unit for Lifeline customers up to 50 units per month.
