The results of the monthly business survey in industry for the month of May show an improvement in activity, with a production capacity utilization rate (TUC) of 73%, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

Production appears to have recorded increases in “chemistry and parachemistry”, in “mechanics and metallurgy” and in “electrical and electronics”, as well as stagnation in “agro-food” and a fall in “ textile and leather”, indicates BAM in this survey conducted from June 1 to 28.

As for sales, by destination, they would have marked a stagnation on both the local and foreign markets, the same source said. By branch, they would have experienced increases in “mechanics and metallurgy” and in “electrical and electronics”, stagnation in “agro-food” and decreases in “textiles and leather” and in “chemicals”. and parachemistry”.

With regard to orders, they would have seen an overall increase, reflecting increases in “chemistry and parachemistry”, in “mechanics and metallurgy” and in “electrical and electronics”. On the other hand, decreases were declared in “agro-food” and in “textiles and leather”.

For their part, the order books would have been at lower levels than normal in all branches of activity except in “electrical and electronics” where they would have been at a normal level.

For the next three months, BAM underlines that manufacturers anticipate an improvement in production and sales in all branches except in “textiles and leather” where the bosses foresee a stagnation in production and a drop in sales and in “ mechanics and metallurgy” where they expect a decline in production.

However, 22% of companies declare uncertainties as to the future development of production and 28% for sales.
