Montenegro beats Romania to the wire in European Championship

In the lair of the Arena Trajkovski in Skopje (Macedonia), Montenegro came to win once morest Romania (35-34) following an intense fight during the European Handball Championship.

Long in the lead in this first half, the Montenegrins were quickly caught up and picked up by the Romanians. In great difficulty on the defensive folds, Maja Savic’s players managed to stay in contact with their opponents thanks to numerous parries from Marina Rajcic (9 saves). But neck and neck, they failed to take the lead before the break (18-18).

On returning from the locker room, Romania made a series of faults, but too imprecise, especially in their passes, the Montenegrins did not take advantage of this numerical superiority to conclude their offensives. It was really in the last five minutes of this match that Montenegro managed to revive to take a small lead over its opponent.

Thanks to its victory, Montenegro is still second, behind France, in this second group of the second round of the European Championship.
