With the character that a champion forges and to remain at the top of the classification of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), Tiburones de La Guaira defeated Tigres de Aragua 8-7 in extra inning in a vibrant Sunday clash.

According to the team’s press department, salty rookie Daniel Montaño tied the score with a dramatic home run in the ninth inning and then Dennis Ortega settled the match with a hit in the tenth inning.

The Bengalis began their attack in the second inning with a score (0-1). But at the end of the same inning Aarón Bracho hit a three-run home run (3-1); his first homer in the LVBP.

Between the fourth and fifth innings, the visiting team collected five runs (3-6), including an ambush on Aaron McGarity, who allowed four hits, three clean runs and struck out one.

A change for La Guaira

When everything seemed to be heading for La Guaira to fall for the third time in a row, a three-run homer appeared, starring Daniel Montaño, the 25-year-old young man, who recorded his first home run in the LVBP at the right time: the ninth section to even the score (6-6).

At the opening of the tenth chapter and supported by the Pan-American rule, Tigres managed to take the lead thanks to a wild pitch (7-6). However, Wilson García was the man responsible for connecting a hit to the center and driving in Alcides Escobar to tie the points (7-7).

Later, Dennis Ortega was the boy in the movie when he hit a hit to the right field and pushed Sebastián Rivero (pinch runner for Wilson García) from second base with the difference run (8-7).

Pitchers in action

Pedro Rodríguez (1-0) took the victory by having a fantastic work of 2.0 complete innings with no hits allowed and one unearned run. For his part, Leonel Campos (0-1) took the loss by receiving two runs (one earned).

La Guaira was in first place in the standings, with a record of 14-10, while Aragua dropped to fourth place with a record of 12-11.
