Monstrous contract for Tage Thompson

The Buffalo Sabers secured the services of one of their young forwards for an additional seven years on Tuesday following signing Tage Thompson.

The 24-year-old athlete will pocket $50 million in total, or just over $7 million annually, the New York State team has confirmed.

“Tage Thompson perfectly displays the pride we expect from every player when they wear the Buffalo Sabers uniform,” Sabers general manager Kevyn Adams said in a statement. His successes last season are proof of his dedication to his job and a commitment to improving the team on and off the ice, which will take us to even greater heights.”

Thompson really blossomed in the 2021-22 season, having blacked the scoresheet 68 times in 78 games. He had never done better than 14 points in a single campaign before.

“I don’t think anyone wants to be satisfied with what you have, had mentioned the main interested party, when emptying his locker following the last season. The numbers add fuel to the fire, allowing it to continue to grow.”

If Thompson is to continue to excel on a personal level, he will also have to help the Sabers reach the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

“It’s a place I want to be for many years to come,” Thompson added at the time. I want to be a guy who helps the team win, make the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup. But these are just words and I must take the necessary actions to achieve this.”

Thompson’s contract will not be effective until the start of the 2023-2024 season, he who still has another season to go on his previous contract, which earns him $ 1.4 million a year. Without this new pact, he would have become a restricted free agent.
