‘Monsoon break’ in Kerala? Yellow alert only in 3 districts today, no ban on fishing

Thiruvananthapuram: Rain may reduce in Kerala from today. According to the Meteorological Center, there is no chance of widespread rain in the state today. But heavy rain is likely at isolated places. More rain is likely in Central Kerala and North Kerala today. Southern Kerala may receive intermittent rain. There is yellow alert in 3 districts today. Yellow alert has been declared in Idukki, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts today. The current assessment is that the atmosphere is gearing up for the monsoon break, which will reduce the amount of rainfall during the monsoon season. Currently there is no restriction on fishing in Kerala coast.

Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in various districts
18-07-2022: Idukki, Malappuram, Kasaragod
19-07-2022: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod
20-07-2022: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram
Yellow alert has been announced in the districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Rains continue in northern districts of the state and monsoon is forecast to weaken

Fisherman’s Alert

There is no restriction on fishing in Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that it is not advisable to go fishing on Karnataka coast on 18-07-2022.
Very strong wind and bad weather conditions with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph at some occasions up to 60 kmph at Karnataka coast till 18-07-2022.

Special precautions

Up to 18-07-2022: Chance of strong winds and bad weather conditions in Central Arabian Sea at 45 to 55 kmph and occasional 65 kmph. Fishing is not allowed in the above areas during the warning dates.

High wave warning

The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of wave height of 3.0 to 3.3 meters along Kerala coast (Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm on 18-07-2022.
Fishermen and coastal residents remain vigilant.
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Avoid trips to the beach and fun at sea altogether.
