“I have decided to declare a health emergency with an international dimension” to confront monkeypox, said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
He explained that “the risk in the world is relatively moderate, with the exception of Europe, where it is considered high,” adding: “We can control monkeypox and stop its spread, using available means.”
The World Health Organization stressed the need for “coordinated international interaction, launching funding, and concerted global efforts to cooperate in the exchange of vaccines and treatment.”
