Monkeypox spreads in Europe… Germany recommends quarantine for 21 days

With monkeypox spreading one following another in Europe, German health authorities have recommended quarantine for at least 21 days for those who have been infected and who have come in close contact with them.

Germany said it had ordered 40,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine to prepare for further spread of monkeypox.

According to the German Center for Disease Control and Prevention (RKI), five cases of monkey pox infection were reported in Germany as of this morning. All the infected were male. RKI predicted that the number of infections in Germany would further spread.

German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said: “We have a good opportunity to stop this etiology, not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. ),” he said.

Health officials have recommended that all those who have been confirmed with monkey pox or have been in close contact with them should self-isolate for at least 21 days.

“It is clear that the number of infections will spread further,” said RKI Director Rota Beiller. “Our goal is to slow the spread.”

He predicts that this will be possible through contact tracing, prevention of close contact with infected people, and hygiene measures. In particular, he explains, caution should be exercised in the case of risk groups.

When infected with monkeypox, initial symptoms similar to smallpox appear, such as fever, headache, muscle pain, lymphadenitis, and fatigue.

Most monkeys with smallpox recover within a few weeks, but some patients can become severe, Biller said. Person-to-person transmission of the etiology is not easy if there is no close contact, he explains.

Although the virus can be transmitted regardless of sexual orientation, gender or age, it is unlikely to threaten the health of the entire population.

German health authorities said they had ordered 40,000 doses of monkey pox vaccine in preparation for the spread of monkey pox.

A vaccine called Imbanex is approved in the United States as a monkey pox vaccine.

“This vaccine can be used to prevent transmission or to stop or delay the onset of those already infected,” Lauterbach said.

Meanwhile, the UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHSA) said on the same day that 14 additional cases were confirmed in England, bringing the total number of cases of monkey pox infection to 70.

French health authorities said on the same day that they recommend vaccination once morest adults and medical staff who have come into contact with a person infected with monkey pox. In France, three cases have been confirmed so far.

The first cases of monkeypox were also confirmed in Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

The Austrian government said Monday that a man who had been admitted to a hospital in Vienna with symptoms such as fever had been confirmed to have contracted monkey pox.

Czech health authorities announced today that a man at a Prague military hospital has been confirmed to have contracted monkey pox. The man developed symptoms following returning from a music festival in Antwerp, Belgium earlier this month, health officials said.

In Slovenia, the first confirmed case was a person returning from a trip to the Canary Islands in Spain.
