Monkeypox has mobilized the Ministry of Health, and Minister Ait Taleb holds a special meeting with the Scientific Committee to assess the epidemiological situation.
In this context, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, held a meeting today, Friday, with the specialized scientific committee, devoted to studying the epidemiological developments at the national and international levels, within the framework of the proactive measures and continuous efforts made by Morocco in implementation of the high royal directives to follow up and evaluate the epidemiological situation of the monkeypox outbreak (M-POX).
A statement from the ministry said that during this meeting, the effectiveness of the epidemiological vigilance and monitoring system adopted in Morocco was reviewed and evaluated, which has proven its effectiveness in early detection of imported cases and ensuring immediate and effective intervention, noting that Mr. Ait Taleb stressed the need to continue strengthening this system, in line with the recommendations issued by the World Health Organization.
In this context, the approved treatment protocol for combating monkeypox (M-pox) was discussed, stressing the need for strict adherence to the prescribed treatment procedures and providing all necessary medical supplies, in order to ensure that potential cases are treated according to the highest standards of health safety.
The Scientific Committee praised the success of the current treatment protocol in Morocco, which contributed to the treatment of the recorded cases without recording any serious health complications.
The meeting also discussed the importance of intensifying awareness-raising efforts for the benefit of all citizens, by providing the necessary preventive medical advice to limit the spread of infection.
In this context, the statement added, Mr. Ait Taleb called for the need to strengthen communication channels with all stakeholders in the health sector, to ensure the continuity of effective coordination and immediate response to any possible development in the epidemiological situation, stressing the ministry’s commitment to continue working and coordinating with various partners and national and international bodies, in order to ensure the protection of public health and limit the spread of this epidemic.
After the Ministry of Health and Social Protection renewed its call to all citizens to show a sense of responsibility and vigilance, it called on everyone to adhere to the approved health directives and guidelines, and to adhere to official sources of information.
