Monkeypox claims first death in Europe

Spain has recorded the first death linked to monkeypox, the first fatal case reported in Europe, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday, quoted by the newspaper ‘El Mundo’.

Spain is the most affected country in the world, with 4,298 confirmed cases. Of the 3,750 infected people for whom information is available, 120 are hospitalized. One of these patients died.

Earlier, Brazilian authorities announced that a 41-year-old man with monkeypox had died in Brazil, the first disease-related death outside Africa and sixth overall.
