“Lebanese Debate”
A few days ago, the World Health Organization announced the emergence of a new sub-mutant for Covid called EG.5 “EG.5”, and urged countries to monitor infections with this new variant that is spreading worldwide, but confirmed that the new variant does not pose a significant threat to public health.
A member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Representative Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Bizri, confirms in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that “there are new infections with the Corona virus, and it is still present in all countries of the world, and the emergence of new mutants is normal, because “Corona” is a continuous virus and it can appear on other mutants form”.
As for the presence of new mutant infections in Lebanon? Al-Bizri explains, “So far, the appearance of the mutated has not been determined, but if it is present in Lebanon, it is not surprising, because Lebanon is an open country, especially in light of the current tourist season.”
Al-Bizri reassures that “there is nothing to worry regarding and there is no need to take any exceptional measures. All that must be done is to follow preventive measures and avoid mixing in the event of infection, and when he feels any exceptional symptoms, we must contact the doctor.”
Al-Bizri stresses that “the Corona virus was and still is, and we have to get used to it, but in Lebanon we have not yet confirmed the presence of any new mutant, and if infections are recorded in it, there is no need to panic because it is like other viruses, and its symptoms can be mild and severe.”
