The precipitations that affect the region and that have not stopped since Thursday put the main rivers of Neuquén and Río Negro to the test. For this reason, the weather alert is maintained. The rain has already increased the flow of important water flows, mainly in the north of Neuquén where the Neuquén River recovered several meters on its shores. This situation is being monitored by municipalities and provincial authorities who fear complications for the residents.which in many cases, built on land dangerously close to the cause.
Regarding the climate, the Interjurisdictional Basin Authority (AIC) confirmed that the rivers and streams that depend on the Neuquén River are transiting «flow increases», mainly in the northern headwaters of the basin and in the Curi Leuvu River.
The conditions of instability will continue until next week, and the forecast indicates that at least until Monday the 26th rains will be perceived in the region. On Tuesday, according to the institution in charge of monitoring the causes, it will be the day where the Neuquén river will have “a flood peak” The values might reach 4000 cubic meters per second only on that day, at the height of Pasos de los Indios, in Sauzal Bonito.

Martin Giusti, Undersecretary of Defense Civil and Citizen Protection, spoke with RÍO NEGRO and reviewed the current situation of the rivers in the province of Neuquén.
“The Neuquén River is growing, in Andacollo we are seeing a significant increase as in Curi Leuvu and Colorado, that is why we are monitoring them since 11 in the morning,” he said.
He also specified that a meeting was held with the participating municipalities to evaluate coordinated actions that provide containment to the houses that were located in the coastal zone.
“We are seeing that there are people who have gained ground from the river, that is unfortunate because now those families are the ones who run the greatest risk“, explained the head of provincial Civil Defense.
Regarding the routes, Giusti explained that they are all circulating with extreme caution.
