Mónica Sánchez, known for her role in ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’, was not surprised by the harsh criticism issued by Lucho Cáceres towards the América TV soap opera, whose eleventh season has just premiered. In a defense of the national production, the popular ‘Charito’ pointed out that the team behind the program “is not trying to create works of great depth.”

Initially, the Peruvian actress indicated that she has a deep affection for Lucho Cáceres, who stated on social networks that ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’ “stupids more than entertains,” since they have worked together on the same television projects. “I love him with everything included: critical, self-critical, naughty, grumpy, hostile. Lucho is all that, but he is loved anyway,” she said.

“Having a job like mine, working in a medium as powerful as television, will always expose you to judgments or comments from other people, and they are all valid. I stay with the public that gives us love and appreciation, and that sees us with eyes that can find something beautiful, white and family entertainment. We are not trying to be Shakespeare or do works of great depth. We are making entertainment from people who are like archetypes, like the cartoon, like Chavo del 8 and like the great comedies in the world,” he continued saying in dialogue with La Noticia.

Mónica Sánchez highlighted that each character in ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’ embodies different facets of the human being, as exemplified by Joel Gonzales, an immature son; and Francesa Maldini, a high-born neighbor.

“We work on our characters in that sense, in representing an aspect of the human being, they are not round characters from whom you can ask for a lot of depth because the series does not go that way. Clearly, when you realize that ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’ is not going there, you are not going to ask for something that you would ask of another product,” Sánchez concluded.

Season 11 of ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’ premiered this Monday, April 8.

After Efraín Aguilar revealed that he tried to persuade Lucho Cáceres to join the cast of ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’, but was rejected on several occasions, the actor shared on his social networks that he does not regret having declined the offer to participate in the successful television series. He also stated that the character he was offered, Pepe Gonzales, currently played by David Almandoz, did not catch his attention.

“Pepe, more of the same […] For what I had been doing, it was more of the same. Maybe not for other actors,” she expressed.

It should be noted that, in April 2023, Lucho Cáceres acknowledged that he has not received an invitation to participate in the new seasons of ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’, now directed by Gigio Aranda and not by Efraín Aguilar. According to what he told the newspaper Trome, if he received a proposal, he would not accept under any circumstances because he feels that he has already “fulfilled his quota” of comedy soap operas.

“I’ve already been in ‘A Thousand Trades’, ‘That’s Life’, ‘Back to the Neighborhood’ and the only one I haven’t been in is ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’. I wouldn’t accept specifically. They are the same writers, the same scripts and I have already fulfilled my quota. I wish them the best, but not there anymore. It’s not good to say never, but I think I wouldn’t be there. I’ve been in those series for a long time and being in one place for an actor… kills the artist, I survived,” he said.
