Lierhaus explains: “The Special Olympics are the games for the mentally handicapped people. I’ll do portraits there. I’ve already met a soccer team in Berlin.”
And further: “As part of this, I will meet people who have mastered their disability very well. We then try to show how they deal with it.”
The next highlight is waiting for you on June 20th: The long-standing sports show presenter will once more accompany an international match of the German national team! “I am really looking forward to it! I will support Florian König there. I can hardly describe it. I’m so looking forward to it. It’s going to be great,” she says. The opponent of the game has not yet been determined.
When RTL presenter Laura Papendick wants to moderate the interview, Lierhaus steps in and asks: “Can’t we talk regarding the game?” Or don’t we have any more time?”
At the end she gives her tip for the Werkself game in the quarter-finals of the Europa League: “I believe in Leverkusen, they have such a great winning streak.”
On social media, they celebrate users for their first RTL assignment. “The way this woman has defied her fate is absolutely impressive,” writes one. Another user: “Can’t do much with RTL, but including Monika Lierhaus in the program is outstanding.”
