Monday Momentum: Igniting a Season of Savings with Unbeatable Summer Deals

They start tomorrow, Monday, July 10 summer sales and will last until Wednesday, August 31according to a relevant announcement by the Business and Retail Association of Greece.

Also, on July 16, Sunday stores will be open across the country from 11 am to 8 pm

“During both the sales and the opening of the stores on Sunday, July 16, the retail businesses will display a wide variety of their products at extremely attractive and advantageous prices” is noted in the SELPE announcement.

What consumers should pay attention to in their purchases during the sales season

Consumers should be especially careful during the sales period.

Therefore, citizens should know the following:

  • Stores should have posted product announcements that sales are taking place.
  • It is mandatory to indicate a double price, i.e. the original (which is usually deleted) and the new price of the products sold at a discount in visible places in the store and definitely in the places where the products are displayed.
  • It is not mandatory to list a discount percentage as it is at the discretion of the business whether to list a percentage or not. In case the company lists a percentage, it should be specified that it is a discount.
  • When consumers purchase products in installments they should be informed of the details and terms of their transaction.
  • Consumers can be accurately informed about the origin and quality of products.
  • Consumers can be informed by merchants if changes are made to the items they sell during sales. Dealers are obliged to exchange defective products purchased during the sales period. This does not apply when the product is on sale due to a specific defect and as long as the consumer has been informed about it before the purchase with a corresponding sign.

Consumers should ask for:

a. the receipt in order to be able to prove the purchase in the event of a defective product.

b. the instructions for use of the product and the terms of its guarantee in the Greek language.
