Vienna/Vösendorf (OTS) Animal rights activist Colleen Paige started National Mutt Day in the United States in 2005. Since then, all colorful dogs have been brought in front of the curtain in many other countries on July 31 to present their uniqueness.

“Mixed breed dogs are dogs whose parents are not of the same breed or no breed. This creates unique four-legged friends that are completely individual and special in their character and appearance,” informs animal shelter manager Stephan Scheidl. “At the moment, 193 dogs are waiting for their forever home in our animal shelter in Vösendorf,” the animal keeper continues.

Representing the many wonderful mixed breeds, Tierschutz Austria would like to present three of them as examples on the “Day of the Mixed Breed Dog”:

Sirius

The friendly mongrel male is three years old, kind to people and gets along well with dogs. With other males he is a bit pushy. He is already housebroken with us and already walks well on a leash outside of the shelter. During his examination, we were able to identify minor ailments, which, however, do not require medication.

Hector

The cuddly Hector is getting a bit old, but he is still up for fun. He is friendly to people, passes other dogs well (he is a bit too old for play), knows interior spaces and is housebroken and also walks well on a leash. He’s a horse stealing dog!

Mayumi

The pretty bitch needs a phase to get to know people in order to build trust. Then she is friendly, sometimes also a cuddly mouse. She is very insecure around big dogs. She gets along with smaller dogs, but free play must be carefully observed. She is housebroken and walks well on a leash in a low-stimulus environment, and she is already familiar with indoor spaces.

Whether big, small, long-haired, short-haired, brown, white or multicolored, every dog is something very special in its own way, which is why it is particularly important to find the right companion for its life situation. Our staff in dog assignment will be happy to advise you: 01 699 24 50
