Monaco takes part in a WHO meeting to deal with pandemics

A Monegasque delegation led by Carole Lanteri, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Principality to the United Nations Office at Geneva, took part in the 6th session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body responsible for negotiating an international instrument on the prevention, pandemic preparedness and response (INB).

The INB working group is made up of member states of the World Health Organization (WHO). Its goal is to draft an international instrument through which all of these States would commit to collective and harmonized action to deal with future pandemics.

This process follows the Covid-19 pandemic which revealed significant gaps both in health services and in access to vaccines and therapies to fight this disease. It is expected that the INB Bureau will complete the development of the instrument by the next World Health Assembly in May 2024.
