Mona Wassef: I felt the pain of the Lebanese, and I am surprised by the uproar surrounding the bike scene

A behind-the-scenes video clip of the filming of the series “Akhira” by the able Syrian artist, Mona Wasef, was released on social media platforms in Lebanon. Mona appeared riding a bicycle behind actor Wissam Fares to film one of the scenes.

Motorcycle

  • Actress Mona Wasef was surprised by the huge uproar caused by the scene of her riding a motorcycle, and she said: “I did not expect the scene to take so much uproar! During my artistic career that spanned more than 60 years in the field of acting, I played several roles in which there was some danger as well. I rode a camel and bit me and fell for it.” also”.

And she continued, “I also rode a horse in Jordan and fell off its back, knowing that I had trained to ride horses with a foreign coach during my participation in the movie “The Message” with the late director Mustafa Al-Akkad.”

She added, “At that time, the horse got scared of the light from the cameras’ reflectors and ran away, but I threw myself off his back before he threw me into the valley where the filming was in the Jordanian Salt area.”

Wasef explained: “I mastered riding a bicycle, and when I learned regarding the existence of a motorcycle riding scene in the series, I did not fear for a moment, but my heartbeat increased slightly, and it is assumed that I was frowning at the scene because I was going to see my son, who stormed a bank in Beirut to take his father’s financial deposit by force.” .

And she added, “I clung very closely to the actor Wissam Firas, the motorcyclist, quite simply, and this is what happened, but I was surprised how much the scene received resonance and follow-up!”

Passport

  • And regarding her previous roles in her boyhood days, the Syrian artist said: “When I entered the field of acting in the sixties, I was eighteen years old, and before our generation there were no actresses in Syria, and the beauty of the actress was the passport in the beginnings, and following that art became the measure and roles as well. In addition to the cultural outcome that I gained from my important experience in the national theater in Syria.

Mona Wassef is not afraid of wrinkles and aging, and considers them “a natural result of more than 60 years of experience in the field of dramatic and cinematic acting.”

Wasef revealed to “Sky News Arabia” that she “previously played the role of the mother to an actor who was years older than her when she was 25 years old, and presented 3 plays and a film, and at that time she was a real mother to her son, Ammar.”

She added, “I was born in 1942. I had no objection to playing the roles of the mother in more than 50 roles.”

Lebanese crisis

  • About her role in the series “Finally,” she said: “It is good that I embody the issue of the financial crisis and depositors in banks, as the role presents the pain of a large segment of Lebanese society in the hope that the money will return to its owners.”

And she continued, “I was happy because I touched the wound, and I loved my role because I felt the suffering of the Lebanese people.”

  • And she added, “I have reached a stage that makes me play roles that suit my age and position, such as a queen, a mother, or a grandmother. The roles that are offered to me are appropriate for my 80 years, and I will join the great Indian Indira Gandhi.”

She explained: “This year I was offered to participate in several series inside and outside Syria, but I am afraid of participating in more than one work at the same time, inside and outside Syria, and I contented myself with one series in the hope that it will resonate well with the audience.”

And she concluded her speech to “Sky News Arabia” by saying: “During the month of Ramadan, I watch a few series, including Finally, Al-Zind and Jam Al-Ezz.”
