“My chicken is cool”

Wingstop? What if the coolest place to party in Paris was organized by the boss of fried chicken? The fast food restaurant from Texas is setting up shop at La Caserne for the summer. We can imagine what happens next.

You still don’t know what you’ll be doing from July 27? For my part, I will be there, without fail, at noon sharp, at 12 rue Philippe de Girard. Wingstop is investing in the Caserne, the space dedicated to fashion the rest of the year will be covered until August 10 with the green banners of the Texan brand. Here, the exhausts have given way to the smells of barbecue sauce and fried chicken. And the Parisian hubbub is drowned out by the emulation of the teams preparing as if they were participating in the Olympics. That is what it is all about here, since Wingstop, an American giant vaguely, if at all, known in France, has decided to make a big splash in the heart of the capital: this summer there will be plenty of free fried chicken, concerts and DJ sets every night… Did you say Wingstop?

FAST AND HIGH-END

The emanations are starting to make up my mind: I try it. And order ten “chicken fillet bites” – elegance, buckets and other nuggets are far away. Crispy, obviously, especially delicious, without the fat disgusting me. The secret? I ask around. Their chicken is prepared on site, another vision of fast food. The wings, the brand’s real favorites, seem to be there to convince us to sit on the stands of the pop-up, to quietly eat a chicken seasoned according to the ten sauces offered – from Hawaiian to atomic, an accompaniment from the least to the most spicy, just to let ourselves be tempted to play the spicy show-off.

COCKTAIL, HOUSE ET…

At 12 rue Philippe de Girard, preparations are underway to transform the place into a veritable Ali Baba’s cave for fans of “high-end” fast food. With millions of chicken wings sold during the Superbowl in the United States, Wingstop knows how to do it and has established itself in the UK in particular. Founded near Dallas in 1994, the brand with over 2,200 restaurants worldwide is still discreet in France. This summer will certainly be a tipping point if the Parisians are there. Stars Jamie Foxx, Travis Kelce, Latto, Rick Ross, all give Wingstop a thumbs up… A five-star comm’ designed for Paris, in an emblematic place of creation and trendy partying, a stone’s throw from the Bisou club.

On the program? Three-on-three basketball games; breakdance performances and dance battles; a tattoo workshop, nail art and a barber; works by still-secret Parisian graffiti artists and the club – open from Tuesday to Sunday until 2 a.m., with an equally enigmatic lineup but composed of Parisian collectives and DJs, and a big concert for the closing of this Caserne x Wingstop with big names in French rap, on August 8.

If France has become in recent years the country in which fast food consumption is among the highest with figures constantly increasing, we have never seen a fried chicken brand prepare a “House Of Flavor” in the heart of Paris which offers JNPR non-alcoholic cocktails and invites us to dance between two spicy sauces. Why not?
