This was told by Joe Pesci in a recent interview with the American magazine “People” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the second film in the franchise.
Acknowledging that this type of comedy is “more physical, therefore a little more demanding”, the actor who played half of the duo of thieves with Daniel Stern especially remembers the moment when the fire caught on his head during a trap set by Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin.
“In addition to the general bumps, bruises and pain that one associates with this type of physical humor, I suffered severe burns to the top of my head during the scene where Harry’s hat caught fire,” he remembered.
And Joe Pesci did not have to suffer this fate once, but twice since he also saw his head catch fire during the 1992 film when his character was chasing young Kevin in a kitchen under renovations.
«[J’avais] the chance to have professional stuntmen for the heaviest stunts”, he underlined.
The actor still has good memories for the filming of this franchise.
“It was a nice change of pace to do this particular kind of slapstick comedy,” he told the outlet.
