The formation of new stars occurs when diffuse atomic gas achieves a molecular concentration and creates a high density cloud.

Astronomers from the University of Chile confirmed this phenomenon in the distant galaxy M83exposed to an intense field of ultraviolet radiation.

The discovery was made possible by the telescope’s unprecedented sensitivity and resolution. Atacama Large Millimeter Array.

For decades, the scientific community sought a better understanding of thethe formation of celestial bodiesbut determining its location was a challenge.

Through the analysis, the experts identified 23 molecular clouds where an unusual type of stellar activity happens.

“Its formation has been a mystery since it was first observed,” said Stony Brook University expert Jin Koda.

This observation paved the way for another important discovery of this examination: the existence of a large reserve of diffuse atomic gas.

However, the transformation of that substance into a set dense to small particles It still has no explanation.

This analysis at the outer limits of the galaxy provides a new opportunity to study the physical processes fundamental to the expansive growth of the current cosmic era.
