At first glance, the little house made of chipboard looks like a bus station. The image of the saint on the back wall, on the other hand, is more reminiscent of a side chapel in the small church that is right next door. But at the table under the gable, where the Christmas decorations are still hanging, help is organized in a very practical way. The women, standing here on the dusty country road near Anenii Noi, regarding 30 kilometers south-east of Moldova’s capital Chisinau, are waiting to put their names on a list for the allocation of firewood.
