Director Bhadran says that Mohanlal’s current problem is that good stories are not reaching him. Bhadran said that if he gets good stories, he will become the old Mohanlal and come back. Bhadran’s response was at the press meet on the occasion of the re-release of Sphatikam.
‘The problem is not the actor Mohanlal. The trouble is with the stories that come with Mohanlal. He is still Mohanlal. That one talent, which was naturally acquired by Pulli at birth. It’s not a tune-up. There is an ease when doing. Unlike other actors, Lal’s specialty is that in the situation where the story is being told, there is even a spot of chemistry in Pulli’s mind without even knowing it. Even Pulley can’t define what that chemistry is. The particle behaves according to that chemistry.
The Mohanlal of that time is still there. I think good stories don’t get to him. Mohanlal will definitely be old Mohanlal if good content oriented stories come through. The film does not show a lot of noise, noise, noise, slaps and grips. It should be recognized. The story and the people carrying it must understand this.
Somewhere in the story two or three things must tug at the heartstrings. If you can bring in such things, it will become a content oriented film. The only problem is that such films do not go through. What else is wrong with him? He must have realized that. There is a time for everything. The spot will change accordingly. It will be corrected accordingly,’ said Bhadran.
Crystal is all set to re-release with 4K visuals in Dolby Atmos. The film will hit the theaters on February 9 next year. The Crystal 4K version comes with a manufacturing cost of over one crore rupees. The re-mastering of the film was completed at Four Frames Studio owned by Priyadarshan in Chennai.
