Mohammed VI raises his voice after the incursion of Israeli forces into the Al-Aqsa mosque

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI

The king of Morocco banged his fist on the table following the incursion of Israeli forces into the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Mohammed VI challenges the UN.

It was in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee that the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, reacted vigorously to the incursion of the Israeli Defense and Security Forces into the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, where worshipers been abused. A repressive action that angered Rabat, especially since this temple is considered the third holiest site in Islam.

At dawn on Friday, Israeli forces launched an assault on thousands of Muslim worshipers as they were inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds. The raid left more than 150 Palestinians injured by bullets. Other worshipers were bludgeoned with sticks. Situation that irritated King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al Quds committee.

The sovereign instructed his diplomacy to directly challenge David Govrin, head of the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat. In a press release, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad indicates that the royal authorities believe that this action will “only stir up feelings of hatred and extremism, and reduce to destroying the chances of relaunching the peace process”.

In order to prevent such events from happening once more in the future, the kingdom calls on the United Nations to intervene urgently. Morocco considers this incursion to be a “blatant aggression”, a “methodical provocation during the month of Ramadan once morest the sanctity of the al-Aqsa mosque and its place in the heart of the Islamic Umma”.
