He succeeds Ahmed Boutache who was appointed to this position ten (10) months ago, i.e. in October 2021.

Ahmed Boutache is an Algerian diplomat born in Béjaïa on March 7, 1953 and graduated from the National School of Administration (ENA) in 1977.
Boutache chaired the Follow-up Committee for the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement (CSA) in Mali signed in Algiers in 2015.
In August 2019, he was appointed Algeria’s Ambassador to Italy before Washington approved his appointment as Algeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States.
