Mohamed salem Maoulainine was unanimously re-elected, Friday in Dakhla, president of the regional section of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab of the Moroccan Federation of newspaper publishers (FMEJ), during the extraordinary General Assembly of the section.
Maoulainine, the only candidate for his own succession, was reappointed following gaining the confidence of members of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab regional section of the FMEJ.
Two vice-presidents were also elected on this occasion, namely Ibrahim Zein and Mohamed El Azraki, while Mohamed Salem Zaoui was appointed as secretary general.
MM. Ibrahim Sidnajem and Ahmed Ahl Maki were elected treasurer and deputy treasurer respectively, while Hamoudi Ahl Zriouil and Mohamed Esgheir were appointed councillors.
The Assembly of the regional section was held in the presence of the president of the FMEJ, Noureddine Miftah, members of the Federal Council, members of the executive office and the presidents of other regional sections of the Federation.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the FMEJ, Noureddine Miftah, indicated that this organizational step is part of the action of the FMEJ aimed at upgrading the regional press and placing it at the heart of the development work in progress in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.
Mr. Miftah also stressed the importance of making concerted efforts to support media companies in order to strengthen the professionalism and dignity of journalists working in the various media institutions in the region.
In this wake, he praised the efforts made by the regional media in the Moroccan Sahara in support of the national cause and their contribution to regional and territorial development.
For his part, the elected president, Mr. Maoulainine highly praised the trust placed in him by the members of the FMEJ, reiterating his commitment to defend the interests of journalists in the region.
For their part, the presidents of the regional sections of the FMEJ emphasized the efforts made by the Federation for the establishment of regional sections as well as the constraints faced by the regional press, noting that the Federation sets up an appropriate framework to rehabilitate the profession and help it to meet the multiple challenges faced by press companies at the regional level.
They also underlined the need to set up partnerships with public and private institutions to support press enterprises, in harmony with the FMEJ program in this area.
On this occasion, the first meeting outside Casablanca of the Federal Council was held, during which it was decided to amend the internal regulations, so that they are in tune with the strong organizational dynamics experienced by the Federation. These amendments related to the creation of the provincial sections and the fixing of the amount of the adhesion to the Federation.
Earlier in the day, members of the FMEJ proceeded to the inauguration of the headquarters of the regional section of the Federation, before visiting the Consulate General of Senegal.
On the sidelines of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Federal Council, the FMEJ will organize a Maghreb symposium under the sign, “In a world torn between pandemics and wars: What is hindering the dream of the Maghreb Union? A North African colloquium in line with the unionist convictions of Moroccan newspaper publishers.
The symposium which should crown this federal organizational event is part of the accelerated international and regional changes.
