Liverpool player Mohamed Salah said he is ready to give up all the trophies he won in the 2021-2022 season in exchange for a chance to play the Champions League final once morest Real Madrid once more.
The 29-year-old’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat once morest the Spanish club last Saturday.
Salah finished the season winning the FA Cup and the League of English Professional Clubs, and won several personal awards.
Salah wrote on Twitter: “The honoring by fans and sports journalists in the same season is something I will never forget.”
“However, I will give up all those personal awards for a chance to replay the final, but football is not like that.”
Salah also said on social media that part of him “wishes” to “start tomorrow” next season, following the defeat on Saturday.
Liverpool won two trophies, but in addition to the loss once morest Real Madrid, it came in second place following Manchester City in the English Premier League.
“I cannot express in words how much we would like to return with this cup to Liverpool, but in the end we were not able to,” Salah said.
“I cannot thank the fans enough for your support,” he added.
“It’s been a very long season but part of me would like to start tomorrow next season.”
The former Roma striker has not yet signed a new contract with Liverpool, although his current contract will expire in June 2023. But he said during the run-up to the Real Madrid match that he is “definitely staying for next season” at Anfield.
Salah finished the 2021-2022 season as the top scorer in the English Premier League, jointly with Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur, with 23 goals.
The Egyptian striker received several personal awards, including the Football Writers Association Player of the Year and the best goal of the Premier League season for his goal once morest Manchester City on 3 October.
Salah also won the People’s Choice Award for the best player in the 2021-2022 season.
