After the election of the new office of the Federation of Maritime Fisheries (FPM) of the CGEM and which brings together all the segments of maritime fishing (deep-sea, coastal, artisanal, processing industries and aquaculture), the members of the office of the FPM met, on March 24, 2022 in Rabat, with Mrs. Zakia DRIOUICH, Secretary General of the Ministry of Maritime Fisheries and officials from the ministry.

Mr. Mohamed Ali OUKACHA, President of the FPM, presented the members of the new office of the FPM as well as its Action Plan relating to the 2022-2024 mandate.

Subsequently, the President of the FPM recalled that the main mission of the Federation is to defend the interests of all its members and contribute to a better organization of the sector.

After a debate with all present, two important issues were raised and considered as priority and urgent actions to be addressed:

1. The preservation of fish resources by fighting once morest informal and illegal fishing.
2. The concern of the entire maritime fishing profession regarding the soaring prices of diesel and more particularly for the coastal fishing sector which is threatened by the total cessation of its activity.

To this end, the members of the offshore and coastal fishing sectors have expressed their solidarity in negotiating with the various stakeholders the adjustment of diesel prices.

Mrs. Zakia DRIOUICH, congratulated the involvement and solidarity of all the members of the FPM, all segments combined, and undertook to support the FPM in the implementation of its Action Plan with a view to better organization of the sector.
