Mohamed bin Zayed receives the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award and the delegation of the Seventh International Conference

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received, on Tuesday, the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, and the delegation of the Seventh International Conference on Date Palm, headed by Dr. Abdel Wahab Zayed, Agricultural Adviser at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Secretary General of the Award.

During the meeting, which took place at Al Bahr Palace, His Highness welcomed the guests and exchanged cordial conversations with them, wishing them success in their conference and to come up with initiatives that contribute to strengthening the palm plantation sector and the production of dates in the region and the world.

His Highness stressed the UAE’s interest in this sector to enhance its contribution to food security and the national economy, in addition to the date palm tree being closely linked to the UAE’s authentic heritage and history.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdel Wahab Zayed gave a presentation on the achievements of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation over 15 years, and the outcome of the conference over 24 years, referring to a unique study on the production of dates from a palm tree whose origin dates back to 2000 years, with a group of dates This palm. The head of the delegation also presented to His Highness the latest publications of the award at the international level, which are the books “Bridged Borders” and “Anonymous Durat Dates”.

For their part, the delegation expressed their thanks and appreciation for the UAE’s hosting of the Seventh International Conference on Date Palm, which is one of the most important conferences related to the field of scientific research in aspects of the development of the palm cultivation sector and the production of dates and its development worldwide, with the participation of academics and researchers in this field, appreciating the support that Assuming the leadership of the Emirates in the field of developing palm cultivation and production of dates.

It is noteworthy that the Seventh International Conference on Date Palm is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, from 14 to 16 March, in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of ministers of agriculture and officials of international organizations concerned with the sector of palm cultivation and date production, along with 475 researchers from 42 countries.
